Faxon Superfinished 5.56 Gunner Lightweight Bolt Carrier Group – TiN PVD
The Faxon Superfinished 5.56 Gunner Lightweight Bolt Carrier Group – TiN PVD is a premium reduced-mass BCG engineered to deliver fast, smooth cycling without compromising strength or reliability. When we evaluated the lightweight BCG market, we saw a capability gap—so we built a carrier that could live up to the Gunner name with no compromises.
The design target was simple: the lightest weight possible—8.5 ounces complete—while retaining critical duty-grade functionality: forward assist serrations, compatibility with dust covers, and an M16 pattern carrier that maintains the full-auto trip sear for full-auto and many modern multi-stage trigger systems.
Matching our barrels, we selected salt bath nitride for the bolt and carrier to increase surface hardness, reduce resistance, and provide excellent corrosion resistance. To take performance and wear resistance a step further, this model adds a TiN PVD coated carrier & gas key—a high-performance coating known for durability and a distinctive gold finish.
Faxon Bolt Carrier Groups are Superfinished to reduce friction, increase smoothness of operation, and reduce fouling. Gas keys use grade 8 fasteners and are fully staked for long-term service. After passing all quality inspections, carriers are laser-engraved with the Faxon Shield.
Faxon recommends the use of an adjustable gas block with our Gunner Lightweight BCG for proper function and optimal tuning.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is this bolt carrier group full-auto compatible?
Yes. This is an M16-pattern carrier that maintains the full-auto trip sear and is compatible with full-auto fire control groups and many modern multi-stage triggers.
Why does a lightweight BCG often require an adjustable gas block?
Reduced-mass carriers typically require less gas to cycle efficiently. An adjustable gas block allows you to tune gas flow for reliability, recoil control, and component longevity—especially when changing ammo or running suppressed.
What is TiN PVD and why choose it?
TiN PVD (Titanium Nitride Physical Vapor Deposition) is applied to the carrier and gas key for enhanced wear resistance and a distinctive finish while maintaining smooth operation.
